Burgos, Spain – On February 4th, the “La Estación de la Ciencia y la Tecnología” in Burgos hosted a vibrant multiplier event for the IDEAL project. This gathering brought together a diverse group of stakeholders eager to share insights about the project’s progress and explore how technology can better support autistic people.
The day kicked off with an engaging presentation by Miguel Gómez, the director of Fundación Miradas. Gómez provided an overview of the IDEAL project, discussing its social initiatives, budget, accomplishments, and the collaborative meetings that have taken place over the last three years. Following Miguel, Sandra Nieto from the University of Burgos took the stage to explain the application study that helped shape the platform’s criteria and the selection of apps included in the project. Next, Marta Arroyo from Fundación Miradas impressed the audience with a live demonstration of the platform. She walked everyone through the registration process, showcasing its access features and various functionalities, making it easy for attendees to see the potential impact of the project.
The second half of the event shifted to a lively round table discussion, moderated by Maria Merino from Fundación Miradas. The discussion featured two young autistic people, Adrián Navarro and Gabriel García, who opened up about their journeys with information and communication technologies (ICTs). They shared how these tools have become essential in helping them navigate their daily lives.
Adding to the conversation, Ignacio Calle, the mind behind applications like “Tempus” and “Gestiac,” provided a broader perspective on the role of technology in supporting autistic people across various aspects of life. To wrap up the presentations, Miguel Lancho and Beatriz Martinez from Autismo Burgos introduced their exciting new app, ConectaTEA, which aims to further enhance support for the community.
As the event came to a close, attendees enjoyed a networking snack, creating a relaxed atmosphere for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and connecting with one another. Overall, the event underscored the IDEAL project’s dedication to harnessing technology to improve the lives of autistic individuals while fostering meaningful conversations among all participants.
