Among the challenges faced by autistic students include inaccessible digital tools, inadequate professional skills, unsuitable methodologies, and limited technological resources. IDEAL plans to launch a Learning Management System (LMS) to be accessible and engaging for users with cognitive issues. It will adapt to individual needs, empowering educators to tailor the platform. Given the overwhelming array of digital tools for autism, the platform will also incorporate a functionality to recommend the best tools for different areas of life for autistic people based on holistic evaluations, incorporating usability and personal competence metrics.
IDEAL aims to design different methodological manuals and support for digital training, for autistic students, families, and Vocational and Educational Training professionals. For autistic students, the project will create a manual on platform use, for families the manual would be on both platform use and intervention strategies, and for professionals on personalized platform design. A primary challenge is the current digital training methodologies, which overlook the specific needs of autistic students. The project will also address gender differences in autism, emphasizing variations in cognitive and social profiles. Innovative features include tailored resources and beneficiaries´ participation in design, ensuring practical usability. By developing these resources at a European scale, the project aims to broaden its impact and potential for wider application, even extending to those with intellectual disabilities.
